PROJECT: 232 Cakery

Following on from the success of their first store at The Crossing, 232 Cakery saw the potential for a second store at Tauranga’s Bethlehem Town Centre, opening in February 2022. ​

Their first outlet, based at Tauriko in Tauranga, is situated within The Crossing, and has enjoyed regular and steady foot traffic in the mall. The new Bethlehem store needed a new counter to mirror the visual identity of the existing store, and act as the shop window for the Bethlehem store – creating a high-impact visual display to entice customers inside. A counter with a high-end appeal to match the high-quality hand-crafted cakes. ​

The counter front faces are high-pressure laminate – Laminex Carrara Marble, with Laminex Brushed Brass for the toe kicks. ​

Tavolo premium acrylic solid surface in Frost was used to manufacture the countertops – a fresh, cool white with a tactile surface that looks and feels like the icing on a cake. The counter design steps down to a lower height to accommodate the chillers and cabinets used to display the cakes, Tavolo acrylic solid surface was a seamless, safe, hygienic choice for the countertops. It provides a one-piece surface, leaving no joins or crevices to catch dust, dirt, and crumbs. Mould, mildew, and chemical resistant, Tavolo will not discolour or delaminate with regular cleaning.
